By Emeka Chiaghanam

Sir Chuka Nnabuife, the Managing Director of the newly created Anambra Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO), has received a pledge of full support from the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, in efforts to address critical social issues in the state.

Dr. Mefor assured Nnabuife and his team who paid him a courtesy in his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex in Awka that the ministry would actively collaborate with ANCISRO to promote positive behavior change, with a specific focus on combating drug abuse and fostering moral reformation across the state.

The Commissioner expressed his enthusiasm and strong support for ANCISRO’s mission, emphasizing his personal and professional dedication to behavior modification. As a psychologist, he underscored his deep commitment to tackling social vices such as drug abuse, anti-cultism, and internet fraud (Yahoo Plus), which he identified as significant threats to the future of Anambra and the nation. He highlighted the urgency of addressing these issues to safeguard the moral fabric and progress of society.

Highlighting the urgent need for moral rearmament, Dr. Mefor stated, “You’ve addressed the importance of Anambra values. If Igboland were a train, Anambra would be the lead coach, guiding the others forward. To achieve success in Igboland, we must first set Anambra right. Our actions here are closely observed and emulated by others, as Anambra is viewed as a benchmark and model for progress across the region.”

He further pledged to provide ANCISRO with expert assistance in developing impactful public communication and awareness campaigns. “The Nigeria Psychological Association is fully prepared to lend its expertise, creating programs that will establish ANCISRO as a household name within just a few months,” Dr. Mefor emphasized.

In response, Sir Nnabuife articulated that the purpose of the visit was to familiarize the commissioner with the agency’s objectives, which focus on promoting the core values of Anambra State and encouraging civic responsibility. He noted that a collaborative effort is vital for fostering a vibrant and inclusive society in Anambra.

He emphasized that the “Solution Agenda” for the state aims to cultivate a clean, law-abiding, and progressive Anambra, where citizens are actively engaged in governance by fulfilling their tax obligations and supporting essential sectors such as education, healthcare, and community development.
