‘Power of One Man’: Echebiri’s Book on Soludo’s Years in CBN, Released

Even as not enough references are being made of the outstanding job Charles Chukwuma Soludo did as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) those who know what happened and how it affected the economy of the country still recall.
Frontline business journalist, Ray Echebiri’s new book, ‘The Power of One Man’ (yet to be in public) captures a good part of the period when, through economic sagacity, resilience and innovation , Prof. Soludo who is currently the executive governor of Anambra State rescued Nigeria from slide the fiscal policies and operations of CBN .
Dr. Echebiri, a journalist, newspaper publisher, and former executive member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) who covered the Bank during the reign of Soludo there comes with local and international events that set Nigeria’s economy on a sure footing despite global quakes and downturns during the first decade of the 21st century.
A major thrust of the work is the role the upward recapitalisation of Nigerian commercial and merchant banks played in pushing the country ahead of many other developing nations within Africa and beyond, financially. It also reports the rough social and political clime, the then CBN Governor weathered to achieve the diadem which the nation still enjoys.
